#Open Space

A space for mutual inspiration and collaborative work on new ideas.

Finally Room for Ideas

In the daily routine, there’s often no time to think outside the box. Yet, it’s precisely new ideas, inspirations, improvements, and sharing fresh insights that move companies forward and truly motivate many people. When there’s no room for that, work becomes dull. That’s why Open Space creates a special environment for creativity, ideas, and improvements.

Thinking together

Thinking together connects us and reinforces the feeling of not just working through tasks, but of shaping and creating. In our #workhacks team, we often experience the need for shared thinking time to explore innovations, share unfinished thoughts, and continuously develop our products. Our Jour-Fixe doesn't allow for this, as it’s optimised for time, and we don’t have the patience there to dive deeply into a topic. Open Space, on the other hand, is a wonderful place for that.

Sharing knowledge

There’s an astonishing amount of knowledge that individuals hold, which the rest of the team isn’t aware of. Open Space is a great opportunity to close this gap and share knowledge, not about topics specific to the company. Even unusual topics can be presented: we’ve seen someone share their experience with meditation, while another person explained how they maintain healthy eating habits and organise their day when working from home. This can also be incredibly enriching.

This is how #Open Space works

In Open Space, the team comes together, for example, every two weeks for 90 minutes. Anyone can bring a topic: a question for which someone needs input, a project someone wants to present, a task where help is needed, or a personal skill someone wants to share. The other team members choose the topic that interests them the most, and the topic presenter and interested members work on it as a group. At the end, everyone reconvenes and shares what was discussed in their group.
